Conservation importance: It is a world heritage site, has range of about 120km long and 65km wide . it consists of six massifs separated by deep gorges: Mount Stanley 5,109m Mt. Speke 4,890m Mt. Baker 4,843m Mt. Emin 4,798m Mt. Gessi 4,715m and Mt. Luigi di Savoia 4,627m, Mount Stanley is the largest and has several subsidiary summits, with Margharita Peak 5,109m being the highest point.Rwenzori is an extremely humid area, and frequently enveloped in clouds. The highest Rwenzoris are permanently snow capped, together with Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya are the only such mountains in the whole of Africa.

Flora & Fauna: Vegetation ranges from tropical rainforest through alpine meadows to snow.
Wildlife includes foresteelephants primates duikers birds and reptiles.

Tourist Activity: Mountain climbing is the major activity with trekking along the Central Trail Circuit taking a minimum of 7 days.
