This safari takes you to the great African jungles of Bwindi impenetrable forest and Mgahinga to meet the amazing endangered Mountain gorillas. You will travel through spectacular rolling hills and breath taking valleys of Kigezi, then you will experience a switch of nature from forest to the savannah of Queen Elizabeth National Park to view awesome wildlife. Cross over to Kibale National Park to track rare primates, reptiles, butterflies and array of birds. Your safari will climax at Murchison Falls National Park where you will view lots of game and experience the adrenaline rush at the spectacular thunderous roar of Murchison falls.

Detailed itinerary

Day 1. Kampala Tour

After breakfast you will have atour of Kampala city. Visit the cultural heritage sites; Uganda Martyrs shrines Namugongo, Kasubi Tombs; where some of Buganda kings are buried,the BahaiTemple; the biggest in Africa  and city centre. In the afternoon you will hit the road to Lake Mburo National Park and checking into Montana Tented camp or Rwonyo camp or Arcadia Cottages.

Day 2: Game drive and boat launch – Lake Mburo National Park

Before sunrise take a game drive where you will meet some of the  early risers of the park. You will also most likely see Zebras, Uganda cob, Eland, Buffalos, Impala, Topis, and Oribis. Return to the lodge for a branch. In the afternoon  take an exciting  boat trip and look out for birds like papyrus genoleks, amazing white winged warbler, brown faced go-away bird etc.  Return to your lodge to relax.

Day 3: Travel to Mgahinga National Park

In the morning hit the road to Mgahinga national park in Kisoro district. Explore the Garama cave and checkin to Mgahinga  Lodge or Kisoro tourist hotel.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Hiking

Gorillas and the Golden monkeys are the two world endangered animals protected in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. After your breakfast, embark on gorilla and golden monkey tracking. Look out for rare birds and unique special flora such as giant Labelia, Groundsel  evelasting flower and  arrange of flowering plants as you move. Climb the 3 volcanoes; mtMuhabura with a peak of 4127m, mtGahinga 3474m and Mt Sabyinyo. This hiking will take you through spectacular valleys and gorges with breath taking scenic views. You may be lucky to spot big game like buffalos, forest elephants, elusive leopards, bush pigs and small reptiles. Head back to the lodge for relaxation.

Day 5: Enroute to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Head to Bwindi Impenetrable forest national park; the true African jungle. This is a UNESCO designated world heritage site  and is a home to 120 mammal species, 346 bird, 202 butterfly, 163 tree and  27 frog species among others.   Checkin to Mahogany Springs or kitandara Tented camp

Day 6: Gorilla tracking

Rise early for breakfast, a ranger guide will give you a brief and tips after which you then enter into the gorilla jungle sanctuary for your exhilarating adventure. The terrain is quite steep  with incredibly dense forest cover. Navigate along crisscrossing animal tracks. Look out for monkeys duikers, rare birds, butterflies as you track for the awesome gorillas. Return to your lodge and recount your nerve-racking experience.

Day 7: Gorilla tracking 2

Wake up early for breakfast and re-enter to the jungle for yet another adventure. Spend ample time with the gorillas observe their behavior and you will be amazed by these creatures.  Surely it will be hard for you to say goodbye to these magnificent creatures.

Day 8: Set off to Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP)

After breakfast depart to queen Elizabeth national park. View games as you entre the park  view game such as water bucks, buffalos, elephants, solitary leopards, lions, Uganda kob etc.  Check-in to Mweya safari lodge or Jacana. In the afternoon  take a boat launch on the Kazinga channel look out for hippos, water buffalos , water bucks  and array of birds including white pelicans, fish eagles,  Return to the lodge for dinner and relax.

Day 9: Game Drive

Setoff to Kasenyi  view lions, hyenas , elephants, giant forest hog, warthogs etc.  Return to the lodge for lunch. Depart to Ishasha sector of QENP. Ishasha is a den for the unique tree-climbing lions.  Explore the Kyambura gorge and return to Mweya safari lodge  or check-in to Ishasha wilderness camp, Savannah hotel, Kyambura game lodge or Fig tree camp.

Day 10: Leave for Kibale National Park

In the morning hours , departure to Kibale National Park through Fort Portal. This park is dominated by  primates  and hubers  up to 335 species of birds. You will check in to your lodge  and proceed to Bigodi wetland  sanctuary. for a swamp walk. Look out for birds like Shinniing blue kingfisher, yellow billed Barbets,  Blue throated Roller, Narina Trogon and pied Hornbill among others. Retreat to your lodge (mountains of the moon, Ndali Lodge, Ataco Country resort or Chimp Nest )

Day 11: Chimpanzee Tracking

Start early by reporting to the ranger station in Kabale National park  and there after enter to the forest for tracking. The park has well developed trails making is easy to explore several kilometers of the forest. You will enjoy tracking the habituated Chimpanzees and it is tremendous fun to watch these apes doing their thing; playing, squabbling and chest thumping.There are 13 primate species to view including African grey monkey, Red Columbus monkey, L’Hoest’s monkey, Olive baboons, Bush babies etc. You will view  wide range of birds, butterflies, rare chameleons, snakes, unique flora with wonderful flowers.  There is also chance to see the elusive forest elephant , leopards, duikers and bush pigs.Back to the lodge.

Day 12: Move to Murchison Falls National Park

Starting relatively early, hit the road northwards through Masidi town and proceed to Murchison National park. You have a chance to view some game as soon as you enter this magnificent park. Check in to Para Safari lodge, SambiyaRiverLodge or Red chilli Rest Camp and prepare for next day activity.

Day 13: Game Drive and Boat Cruise

The game drive will begin at 6:00am and will take a couple of hours. You will see game such as giraffes, lions, Elephants, antelopes, Leopards warthogs, buffaloes etc. Return to the lodge for a branch and lunch. In the afternoon embark on a launch cruise on the river Nile. This is an exhilarating experience where the Cruise takes you to the foot of thundering great falls a cross scenic view of a parked school of hippos and huge crocodiles. As you cruise you will also view elepants  and buffaloes ashore. For bird lovers Plenty of birds will be available  such as Fish Eagles, cormorants, ducks, bee eaters, Skimmers, Herons, and the rare Shoebill. Return to the lodge.

Day 14: Return to Kampala

At an appropriate time we set off to Budongo forest and spend some time tracking for chimpanzees and there after we head to Kampala and check in to your hotel and relax. Have the time to review all your adventure experience.

Day 15: Departure to the Airport

After breakfast you may want to do some shopping after which you will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight. We will give you a call to confirm your safe arrival back home.
